As a member of the Rare Breeds New Zealand Society, the aim of our farm is to promote the breed of the Gotland Pelt sheep. Our foundation ewes and their offspring are all registered with the society to ensure quality, consistency and sustainability into the future.
Our foundation ewes were 2 and 3 years olds on purchase. They are all sisters but breed from different ewes (100% Gotland). Their sire was from a reknown breeder Chocolate Wool NZ.
I have started to keep a register of the foundation ewes and their lambs so that I can track their breeding progeny and fleece quality.

We had a good survival rate for first-time mothers and first time shepherds. We do not intend to breed in 2019 but will wait until the ewe lambs are 2 years old before breeding all the ewes again.
The boys are wethers and we will keep them for their fleece until such time as the flock gets too big.
If you would like to see the fleece, please go to the fleece page.
